The Longest Running Weekly Episodic Television Show in History, WWE Monday Night Raw's Episode 1003 came LIVE from the American Airlines Centre in Dallas, TX. And with SummerSlam in 6 days, things were to reach a climax.
The show kicked off with the WWE Champion, CM Punk, taking on The Big Show. Big Show prevailed last week on Raw, establishing his dominance over Punk and Cena. Was he to do the same in this match?
Big Show dominated Punk during the early goings of the matchup, despite glimpses of resistance from the WWE Champion. As the matchup progressed, Punk almost got the Big Show of his feet, until a colossal spear.
Following this, out came Daniel Bryan chanting "NO! NO! NO!", he said he deserved to be in the title match, and when no one responded, he got in the ring and locked in the "NO Lock" submission on CM Punk. Big Show also beat down the WWE Champion, until John Cena came down to the ring and took on Big Show, before clearing the ring, except for CM Punk. Utter chaos was settled by the General Manager, AJ, who made a colossal main event, Daniel Bryan teaming up with The Big Show, against CM Punk and John Cena
Next, we saw JTG, backstage, complaining to Kaitlyn about him not having a place on Raw. It was "crazy" he said. And AJ came straight away and gave him a match, against... Ryback!
Ryback dominated him, as usual, and continued his path of destruction. Welcome to Raw, JTG!
Then it was announced on commentary that Rowdy Roddy Piper is on Raw for Piper's Pit. The WWE Universe could vote via Twitter for his guest out of Chris Jericho, The Miz and Dolph Ziggler. Who would be the guest? What would unfold during Piper's Pit?
Then backstage, we saw Piper preparing for Piper's Pit, and he spoke to Shawn Michaels about Lesnar. Then Piper left the room, and Shawn Michaels spoke to Triple H on the phone, who said he will be late, would HBK be vulnerable to Lesnar?
Next in action, was Heath Slater, his opponent, was R Truth. R Truth beat Heath Slater before the #1 Contenders for the Tag Titles, the Prime Time Players came out and viciously attacked R Truth, as Kofi Kingston was away on a WWE tour. The Prime Time Players really picked up the intensity just 6 days before SummerSlam. Could we be looking at the New Champs
come Sunday?
Next up, in action, the high flying sensation Sin Cara. He was up for a big challenge, against Tensai. Tensai's brute style was outwitted by Sin Cara. And when Sakamoto got upon the apron to distract Sin Cara, it was Tensai who bumped into him and Sin Cara took advantage and got a huge victory over Tensai. A frustrated Tensai went on to attack Sakamoto, as his losing in the WWE continues.
Then, it was the return of Piper's Pit. The WWE Universe voted Chris Jericho to be the guest. After a slightly heated introduction, they got down to the business, until... "EXCUSE ME!" and out comes Dolph Ziggler with Vickie. Ziggler said that he will beat Jericho at SummerSlam, but Jericho responded by saying "Sorry I didn't hear any of that I was too busy looking at the spaghetti on your head". Then Vickie responded by saying "Don't talk to Ziggler like that!" before he interrupted with his trademark "Would you please, SHUT THE HELL UP!" Jericho said that he would win, powerfully stated his intention for SummerSlam, to win the big one.
We were then interrupted by The Miz, who told Rowdy and Jericho to get off HIS show. Miz then tried to grab Piper's mic, before Jericho took on Miz and Ziggler, and cleared the ring. He then stood tall with Piper, and he took the momentum towards SummerSlam in 6 days.
Then announced via Twitter, the General Manager, AJ made a triple threat match, Ziggler v Jericho v Miz. This was to be a superb match, with very talented wrestlers. Dolph and Miz started the match by double teaming on Jericho, before an argument about who would win took place, so Miz and Dolph fought. Jericho took the advantage by jumping out the ring to take out Ziggler and Miz. Miz took advantage over the commercial break, beat down Jericho and continued to keep Dolph on the outside. A significant moment was a very impactful PowerBomb SuperPlex that put all three men on the canvas, Ziggler tried to pin Jericho, but to no avail. Then out of nowhere came a CodeBreaker to Ziggler, he went for the pin but Vickie stopped it. The match concluded when Miz was tapping to the Walls of Jericho, but the referee was distracted, Ziggler finished Jericho with the ZigZag for the victory. A superb match, showcasing the ability of these three wrestlers. All have matches at SummerSlam, Dolph enters Los Angeles with momentum, could this momentum be enough to defeat Jericho? And how will Miz prepare for his Intercontinental Title defence against Mysterio at SummerSlam? All these will get answered on Sunday.
Then there was some tag team Diva's action, where Kaitlyn and Layla beat Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres. The Diva's Division is getting intense now, as the competition for the top spot continues.
More tag team action was next, announced earlier on the night by GM AJ, it was Daniel Bryan teaming up with The Big Show to take on CM Punk and John Cena. This was to be a SummerSlam preview for many. For how long would Punk and Cena coexist?
After some controversial tag ins between Punk and Cena, Big Show and Cena were in the ring, and Big Show dominated. Then we saw cracks in the team of Bryan and Big Show who tagged himself in. There were some very fast tag ins and tag outs, and Big Show was dominating. Big Show was proving why he was a force to be reckoned with come SummerSlam, but the turning point was when Big Show went for a WMD, but Bryan tagged himself in. And after some "NO" kicks, CM Punk took down Bryan, and refused the tag before mocking Cena by doing the Five Knuckle Shuffle, Cena tagged himself in and mocked Punk, Cena won with an AA to Bryan, superb match, then as Big Show got in the ring, Punk hit him with the Title Belt, and then Punk offered a handshake to Cena of who rejected. Cena obviously didn't respect Punk so that's why. Anyway tensions were built for SummerSlam in 6 days as Cena stood tall.
Backstage, Punk got some off his chest by saying he will teach everyone about respect, by the end of SummerSlam. Things are really intensifying towards SummerSlam.
The next contest consisted of Damien Sandow against Christian. Would Sandow's aggression continue and deny Christian? It was an even contest until action spilled out to the ring and Christians head was bashed into the steps several times. Then came Brodus Clay, walking with an injured leg. We thought this would have been a distraction but Sandow turned it around for the neck breaker and won. Clay looked on, this feud could get intense, but the Funkasaurus is not well at the moment.
We then saw HBK walking around backstage, he walked into Lesnar, who just smiled and laughed in HBK's fear.
It was now time for a very highly anticipated event, 6 days before a HUGE collision at SummerSlam, this was the official contract signing of Lesnar and Triple H. HBK was still alone in the arena, but Triple H was on his way. Would Lesnar still be coming for Shawn Michaels? Triple H was not present yet, but Paul Heyman hyped up the match talking about the danger of Lesnar. And the concept of the contract. Then Heyman pointed out how HBK thinks Lesnar can not win, they asked HBK to come out, eventually he did. Then after a while out came Triple H, and he accepted the contract, so did Lesnar, he signed it before stepping out the ring, are they holding back until SummerSlam?
Then backstage, after a commercial break, we saw Shawn Michaels getting dragged out his car and brutally attacked. He was taken into the ring where Michaels delivered an F5 followed by putting him in the Kumura Lock, and as Triple H came out to rescue, Paul Heyman gave him an ultimatum, that if he comes nearer to the ring, Lesnar would break his arm, Triple H could not go in, but Lesnar broke the arm anyway. Lesnar retreated whilst Triple H waited in the ring as Michaels was attended to by medical personnel. Triple H was angry, this feud has set up well for SummerSlam. A very interesting Raw, episode 1003 sets up very well for SummerSlam in 6 days.
Cena gained momentum towards SummerSlam, Ziggler also did. Lesnar and Triple H are set to collide full speed ahead in Los Angeles, tonight's Raw has set up well.
